Here’s where you can find the answer to the question:
Do I have the expertise you’re looking for?
I know the forms of corporate writing.
- As Senior Writer for Bliss, Gouverneur & Associates, a small New York public relations firm that focuses on financial services, I wrote every kind of corporate communication—from bread-and-butter PR materials such as press releases, media alerts, and pitch letters to complex assignments including bylined articles, newsletters, white papers, and annual reports. Whether you need website copy, a simple brochure, or an entire ghostwritten book, I can get the job done. If you’re a small-to-medium law or accounting firm looking to enhance your client service with—let’s say—a monthly online newsletter, you especially should be talking to me.
I know a wide variety of substantive areas.
- I’m a retired attorney, admitted in New York. In fifteen years as a practicing attorney I naturally learned the legal field inside out, including its business aspects. I’ve written for national law firms such as Sidley & Austin and Hunton & Williams.
- I spent nine of those years as an attorney in the New York Insurance Department. I’m intimately familiar with the complexities of insurance products on both the P&C and life sides. I’ve written for companies such as MetLife.
- I’m broadly experienced in the financial services field. Reporting on tax developments for a subscription-only website for financial planners, I cover everything from retirement planning to hedge funds. Though I’m not a CPA, I’m conversant enough to have worked for the Financial Accounting Standards Board.
- I have a particular strength in technology issues born of personal experience. I was one of the first computer users on the Internet when the government made it available to the general public in the early 1990s. As an example of my work in this field, click here to see an article I published in Wired in 1994.
- Another of my specialties is time and office management advice, delivered in an easy-to-read, lighthearted style. Want to stop procrastinating? Read my article about it—tomorrow.
You get the idea. If you have questions about my competences, e-mail me.
